PORTRAITURE CLASS (YEAR 7)

 Portraiture is an integral part of Life drawing. It is the study and drawing of the human face with focus on resemblance in most cases.
The main aim of this drawing exercise is to study the features of the human face (male or female). This aspect of life drawing is usually carried out using a live model or reference (pictures).

As a trained Visual Artist and seasoned Art Educator, I tried as much as possible to get my students aquainted to this aspect of life drawing, using the collaborative method, which happens to be one of the 21st century core skills. This is evident in the images attached to this write up. Other core skills learnt by the students in this lesson are;

  • Communication skills.
  • Creativity.
  • Problem solving.
  • Perseverance.
  • Information literacy.
  • Technology skills and digital literacy.

  • In addition, this portraiture class also helps the students to learn how to tolerate themselves due to the methodology employed to deliver the lesson.
